Terms of Service for ChatinShield

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using ChatinShield ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

2. Description of Service

ChatinShield is a mobile application that:

• Connects to third-party Large Language Model (LLM) providers
• Processes documents locally on your device
• Provides PII (Personally Identifiable Information) filtering
• Stores your API keys securely on your device
• Sends your requests directly to LLM providers

Important: ChatinShield is a client application. We do not operate AI services, store your data, or process your requests on our servers.

3. User Requirements

3.1 Age Requirement

You must be at least 13 years old to use ChatinShield. If you are under 18, you must have parental or guardian consent.

3.2 API Keys

To use ChatinShield, you must:

• Obtain your own API keys from third-party LLM providers
• Comply with each provider's terms of service
• Be responsible for all costs associated with API usage
• Keep your API keys confidential and secure

3.3 Acceptable Use

You agree to use ChatinShield only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms.

4. License Grant

4.1 Limited License

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download, install, and use ChatinShield for your personal, non-commercial use, subject to these Terms.

You agree NOT to:

• Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to derive source code from the App

• Use the App to harass, abuse, or harm others
• Use the App to generate, distribute, or store illegal content

5. Third-Party Services

When using ChatinShield to access third-party LLM services, you are also bound by their respective terms of service:

5.2 No Liability for Third-Party Services

We are not responsible for:

• Third-party service availability, quality, or accuracy
• Costs incurred from third-party API usage

• Third-party privacy practices or data handling

6. User Responsibilities

6.1 API Key Security

You are responsible for:

• Safeguarding your API keys
• All activity that occurs using your API keys
• Costs incurred from your API usage
• Immediately notifying providers if your keys are compromised

6.2 Content Responsibility

You are solely responsible for:

• All content you create, upload, or transmit through the App
• Ensuring your content complies with applicable laws
• Reviewing AI-generated content before use
• Not relying solely on AI for critical decisions

7. Disclaimers and Limitations of Liability

7.1 "AS IS" Disclaimer

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.

7.2 AI Content Disclaimer

AI-GENERATED CONTENT MAY BE INACCURATE, INCOMPLETE, OR MISLEADING. YOU MUST:

• Verify important information from authoritative sources
• Not rely solely on AI for critical decisions
• Use your own judgment when using AI-generated content
• Understand that AI can hallucinate or produce false information

7.3 PII Filtering Disclaimer

WHILE WE PROVIDE PII FILTERING FEATURES, THEY ARE NOT PERFECT:

• Pattern matching may miss sensitive information
• You must review content before sending to LLM providers
• We are not liable for any PII exposure
• The filtering is provided as a helpful tool, not a guarantee

7.4 Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR:

• Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
• Loss of profits, data, use, or goodwill
• Service interruptions or unavailability
• Damages arising from your use or inability to use the App

IN NO EVENT SHALL OUR TOTAL LIABILITY EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE APP (WHICH IS ZERO FOR FREE VERSIONS).

9. Updates and Modifications
